We originally decided to tell Jack’s story because he’d ran the same 50 miler every year since the race was established, and at first that seemed like enough. As I dug deeper into the story, I realized this story was a portrait of a growing community and a reflection on quietly showing up. This piece is a thank you to people like Jack, who do what they love even when no one is watching.
